Defence
The scope of our certificate names the defence industry explicitly, alongside aviation and space. The same requirements for traceability and documentation apply.
Does Fijn Mekaniek Nelissen supply the defence industry?
Yes. Defence is explicitly within the scope of our EN 9100:2018 certificate (BE014750). We make parts, replacement parts and prototypes in metal and plastic, from one-off to large series, with full inspection and certificates supplied with the delivery.

Where defence work stands apart is in the mix of small and large quantities: a prototype that, once approved, suddenly has to go into series production. Because we have bar feeders and robots as well as 5-axis machines, that same job can scale up with us without changing supplier.
In-house we carry out surface grinding, sandblasting, ultrasonic cleaning, EDM start-hole drilling and assembly. Finishing treatments are handled by specialised partners, with a certificate.
In practice, that calls for predictability. The same drawing must produce the same part two years from now, made to the same documented process. That is what our quality system is built for: not to pass an audit, but to be repeatable.

Frequently asked questions
Can you scale up from prototype to series production?
Yes. We are equipped for the most complex prototypes as well as for large series, because we have bar feeders and robots as well as 5-axis and multitasking machines in-house.
Is defence within your certificate scope?
Yes, explicitly. The scope on our certificate names parts, replacement parts and prototypes for the aviation, space and defence industries.
Which finishing operations can you offer?
We carry out surface grinding, sandblasting, ultrasonic cleaning, EDM start-hole drilling and assembly ourselves. A range of finishing treatments is handled by specialised partners, with a certificate for each treatment and with us as your single point of contact.
Can you assemble sub-assemblies?
Yes. Assembly is done in-house, so individual parts do not have to leave the premises between machining and delivery.

Send us your 2D or 3D file and we will tell you what it costs, how long it takes and whether the design could be made easier to produce.
